Hello Neighbors,

Is everyone loving these nice, hot days? Other than the humidity and hot cars – including the seats that will sear your skin off — it's great! Just take care of yourself and your pets. Drink plenty of water and maybe get a tiny pool for your dog. Be sure to share pics of pups in pools. Oh, if you end up with raccoons in the pool, social media will need to see that, too. Maybe we could even add them to the Photo Album section of our GCA website.

Speaking of our website, we'd like to welcome Webmaster/Data Manager Mike Ritter to our GCA team. Mike jumped in ready to go when we finally had to give Chuck Carter a break after his years and years of hard work on our website, membership drives, and the evils of Access databases. Mike is making some exciting changes to the layout and functionality ... and saving me from having to figure it out (mess it up) myself. Check out https://greenbriargca.org/ and take a fresh look at what we have to offer. And check to see if you are current on your Greenbriar Civic Association membership while you are there. Just sayin'.

Effective with this issue of your Greenbriar Flyer, you’ll notice that it is being delivered via USPS to all residents again. We’ve received feedback that our newer residents had never heard of the Flyer, or even the GCA for that matter. And some of our longer-term residents weren’t aware that they could opt for a mailed copy of the Flyer since we went online a few years ago. So, the GCA board elected to cover the cost of postage to ensure that all residents were in the know.

There are three great opportunities to get out, meet up with neighbors, get some music in your life, and have a good time without even leaving Greenbriar coming up this month.

Right off the bat we have Bloo Lagoon (www.facebook.com/therealbloolagoon) playing the next Concert in the Park. They have a really cool sound that should get everybody bopping along. Meet us at Greenbriar Commons Park (next to the pool) on August 3rd. You know Sandy will have ice cream and drinks to keep you cool during the hot jams.

August 6th is National Night Out at the Cale Community Center. This is a great big event with food, activities, public service engagement with our first responders, and Greenbriar's own amazing talent, Patrick Wray (www.facebook.com/patrickmwray). Bring a dish with you if you want to participate in the potluck by showing off your cooking (or shopping) skills and share in the community spirit. This is always a big event that shows the best of Fairfax County and Greenbriar, specifically.

Get spun up again for the next Concert in the Park with Shelley Star and the Galaxy on August 24th. This is an amazing band and performance that mixes originals, covers and a crazy, cosmic good time. Costumes and choreography, combined with their solid musical talent, make for an out-of-this-world show. Check them out at www.shelleystarandthegalaxy.com/music and get ready to dance along.

Hope to see you all at one or all of these cool GCA parties and concerts.

Oh! And don’t forget to register to vote or check your voter registration. Not telling anyone how to vote (as much as I'd love to), just that everyone who can, should. Voting is a legitimate way to get your message across. Don't get mean, get moving to the polls on November 5!
