Concert in the Park with Scaramanga

Sandy Williams
What a pleasure it was to attend the GCA-sponsored concert in Greenbriar Commons Park on the evening of June 29. A popular local band, Scaramanga, performed. Scott Chambers, who grew up in Greenbriar, is an instrumentalist in the band. His parents, Jerry and Eileen, still live in Greenbriar. The music consisted of Jamaican ska, rock steady, and 50s and 60s tunes. It was a delight to see so many residents and friends in attendance. There was even a couple from Maryland who are regular followers of the band there! All enjoyed a sense of community with friends and family on this lovely evening together.
There are two additional concerts scheduled: The Bloo Lagoon on August 3, and Shelley Star and the Galaxy will return on August 24.

Our thanks to all who helped with preparations and cleanup to make this a most enjoyable evening of music:

• Lou Motter – for helping with the purchase of ice cream at Walmart; picking up the generator and supplies from the Cale Community Center storage shed and returning them at the end of the evening; icing down the water and soft drinks in the coolers; providing pizza for the helpers prior to the concert; and helping with cleanup after the concert.
• Dr. Alex Cullison – for also helping with the coolers; assisting at the snack table throughout the evening; and helping with the cleanup after the concert.
• Don Williams ― for getting the ice cream to the park.
• Brandon Gottwalt ― for quickly finding a replacement generator after the old wasn’t working properly.
• Ellis Rosenberg ― for setting up the GCA membership table and distributing membership applications.

Note: GCA memberships help finance the summer concerts in the park we so enjoy. The new membership year began on July 1, 2024. If you haven’t yet renewed your membership or joined the association, go to www.GreenbriarGCA.org.
We hope to see you at Greenbriar Commons Park (next to the pool) at one of our upcoming concerts! Come out and share in the fun!
