Greenbriar Flyer Needs Contributors

Published on 2/19/2025

The Greenbriar Flyer is our community's leading newspaper. It features articles on activities in the neighborhood, upcoming events sponsored by the Greenbriar Civic Association, school news and activities, information about other local activities for children and adults, a semimonthly gardening column, and more. Past and current issues are archived on GCA’s website at www.greenbriarGCA.org.

We are in search of a new editor-in-chief to continue the Greenbriar Flyer legacy, which began shortly after homes in Greenbriar were first occupied in 1967.

If you have a rudimentary general knowledge of desktop publishing or InDesign — the Adobe desktop publishing software used to lay out the articles — you will be able to create editions of this publication. The main sources of information for articles come from the GCA, community residents, and local news outlets’ subscriptions, all of which are received regularly at greenbriarflyer@hotmail.com. In consultation with the assistant editor, you will decide (and edit) articles for inclusion in each edition.

Due to attrition and lack of volunteers, the current editor-in-chief is also performing the duties of the following positions:

  • Operations Manager — Sets policies and procedures and coordinates issues with the GCA.
  • Business Manager — Works closely with the editor-in-chief and operations manager to oversee procedures (especially bulk mail account and other USPS mail), billing and banking, coordination with printer to set up print schedule for each edition and recruiting new volunteer staff as needed.
  • Ad Manager — Responds to advertising inquiries, schedules ads, bills advertisers and produces accounting reports (knowledge of QuickBooks required).

Please contact the editor-in-chief at 703-266-7032 or email greenbriarflyer@hotmail.com for more information.

Your help is greatly needed and much appreciated!
